Tulsa Drillers – Nolan Arenado Bobblehead
There are 9 bobbleheads coming out today as the today’s title states. Plenty of them are worthy of note. You have a Star Wars themed mascot, a bunch of current and former All-Stars, some young studs, and even an Olympic Gold Medalist runner!
But our favorite is the Nolan Arenado Gold Glove and Silver Slugger bobble from the Tulsa Drillers. We’ve said it before and we will say it again; Arenado gets a little short changed on recognition playing for the Rockies. He might not swipe the bases like Mike Trout or have the flash and celebrity personality the Bryce Harper does. However, his glove and bat can go pound for pound with these guys any day of the week.
Just 3 years into his career and he already owns 3 Gold Glove awards and 1 Silver Slugger. He was an All-Star last year and a serious contender for the NL MVP. This season he is sitting at 4th in Runs, 1st in HRs, 2nd in RBIs, 3rd in Slugging, and 6th in OPS. Oh and last season, he just managed to crank out 42 HRs and lead all of the Major Leagues with 140 RBIs.
In other words, this guy is amazing at the game. Oh yea, and he’s only 25 years old. So get use to him for a while!

This week kicked off the first indpeendent baseball league games of the season. There are a few leagues that get involved in the stadium giveaway fray every year. The first up is the Frontier League and their Florence Freedom with this Davey Concepcion bobblehead. More will come soon, as the other prolific SGA and bobblehead givers out their from the Atlantic and Northwoods Leagues (among others) kick off their seasons in the coming weeks.
Davey Concepcion is a former shortstop in Major League Baseball. He played with the Cincinnati Reds for nineteen years (1970–1988) including their back-to-back World Series championship seasons in 1975 and 1976. The Reds later retired jersey number 13 in honor of Concepción’s contributions to the team. (wikipedia 2016)

Even though Bryce Harper wasn’t acting very MVP-like the other night, nobody can deny he is an absolute monster on the ball field. Only 23 years old and already 4 full years into his Major League career, Harper has amassed a careers worth of recognition. A 3 time All-Star, NL Rookie of the Year, and reigning NL MVP; the guy just needs to find his way to a World Series and compete on the next level to prove what everyone already knows about him. That he is a lock future Hall of Famer and might soon become the highest paid athlete in sports history with a suspected 500 million dollar contract in sight.

The Red Sox continue having fun with a simply replica baseball SGA. In seasons past, the Red Sox, along with the Phillies ( and another team or two that escape our memory at the moment) have used the Star Wars theme on this type of item before. Death Star balls were pretty cool, but the BB-8 ball the Red Sox are giving out tonight is a notch above the rest. Just another example of some great promotions departments right here.
