San Diego Padres – Opening Series Jersey Rally Towel #3 of 3

Wrapping up their opening home series today, the Padres hand out a third jersey rally towel in a row.  Today is an interesting digital camo design.  In the previous two games to open up their season at home, the Padres gave out a home white jersey rally towel and a throwback jersey rally towel.  Pretty cool little collection to kick off what is arguably the best Padres sga lineup in years.  Check out what else they have to offer coming up this season; because in past years, there really wasn’t much to speak of.

Sacramento Kings – Mike Bibby Bobblehead “The Shot”

When Mike Bibby took the court in the final seconds, he and Chris Webber and 17,317 of their friends were no longer playing with house money, young adults beating the system on a weekend binge. The Sacramento Kings were trailing by a point in the crucible of their season, down to their last shot, facing possible elimination away from home on Friday.

”Maybe everybody else was nervous, but Mike wasn’t,” Kings guard Bobby Jackson said. ”That’s just not him.”

Amid the cold sweats, the churning butterflies in the abdomen and all the other anxiety at Arco Arena tonight, Bibby inbounded the ball near the bench of the Los Angeles Lakers, got it back from Webber and squared up from 22 feet on the right wing.

When the ball went through the net with 8.2 seconds remaining and Kobe Bryant’s shot missed at the other end, the Kings had won the biggest game in Sacramento history, fending off the two-time world champion Lakers, 92-91, in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals.

Breaking the trend for their home opening series, the Padres have a rally towel SGA set for their fans.  Each of the first three games of the season will feature a different Padres jersey rally towel.  Pretty cool idea if you ask us.  A fun twist on the generic rally towels so common across the league.

  “ Opening Day is Here! ”

Best Item of the Day

Finally!  There are three games scheduled for today’s Opening Day.  Many more teams kick off their season tomorrow and Tuesday.  MiLB season gets into full swing this week too!  So get excited if you aren’t already; because this year looks to be an SGA banner year.  If you’ve been in the hobby for the past few seasons, you know that things have only picked up steam for MLB and MiLB franchises seeking to one up the competition on great stadium swag all season long.  The sheer number of giveaways (too many bobbleheads to count!) is out of this world.

Here is today’s scheduled games:

• Cardinals (Wainwright) vs. Pirates (Liriano), 1:05 p.m. ET on ESPN
• Blue Jays (Stroman) vs. Rays (Archer), 4:05 p.m. ET on ESPN2
• Mets (Harvey) vs. Royals (Archer), 8:37 p.m. ET on ESPN

The three home teams are giving away what every MLB franchise will follow with this week: schedule magnets!  What fan doesn’t love a good schedule magnet?  Am I right?!?

Washington Capitals – Evgeny Kuznetsov Statue

There sure are a lot of the bobblehead giveaways out there these days. We love em, don’t get us wrong.  But everyone enjoys a curveball (or should we say knucklepuck???) every once in the while in the form of a figurine or statue.  The Capitals have a great one for their fans tonight in the form of this Evgeny Kuznetsov piece.  In addition to the fine detail work on the statue, the right arm is also a “twister-arm” that rotates  forward 360 degrees…click the link to see it in action!

Great job by the Caps to give their fans a unique SGA as the season winds to an end.  Well…not entirely for the Capitals as they just clinched the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference heading into the post-season. GO CAPS!

We couldn’t decide which was better…the NHL’s Alex Pietrangelo or the AHL’s Sonny Milano bobblehead.  So you pick!  There’s also a Canton Chargers JR Smith bobblehead tonight as well.  We haven’t seen a picture yet, but suspect it might be just some extras from the recent Cleveland Cavaliers JR Smith bobblehead night on March 23rd.
